Are you aware of your current habits and your tendencies? And are you creating strategies for changing them if they are currently not serving you? Now, this is a bit of a tricky one, because the way that the brain works is that if we already believe something about ourselves, when we look back to analyse our past behaviours and actions, our brain will be specifically focused on finding evidence to support our current belief. So it is far from objective. Because it likes to be right. And so even if 50% of the time we do, say, sleep in late in the morning, and 50% of the time, we get up when our alarm goes off - if we have a belief that we are not a morning person, then our brain will almost disregard all the times when we actually have gotten up just fine in the morning, no problem. And so it will make up a story that isn’t actually true. And the problem with this, is that if we support our existing belief about ourselves, we typically go on to behave in a way that is congruent with this self-identity. So identifying ourselves as a particular way - can be very damaging to our potential to change.
