The Best Years Of Our Lives

I’m kicking off the podcast with one of my favorites of all time, a film that speaks to me about the human condition, the resilience of the heart, the courage of otherwise ordinary people to face the world. It's The Best Years Of Our Lives, released immediately after WWII in 1946. For me, it captures the spirit of Americans in the backwash of the war, living in the remains of a high tide of patriotism, but dealing with the dislocations the war has inflicted, the uncertainty of the post-war era, the influx of newly returned veterans, and the gradual and terrible realization of what war has done to those vets.
