The Oka Crisis

In the town of Oka Quebec a mayor wants to add on 9 holes to a golf course and build a parking lot on top of a Mohawk cemetery called the Pines. The local Mohawk were not included in these plans and decide a peaceful protest of blockading the entrance to the Pines is needed to protect their land and heritage. This week we discuss how this escalated to a crisis.
