Hurricane Emily was a powerful, early season, Cape Verde tropical cyclone that caused significant damage across the Caribbean Sea to Mexico. At it’s time, It was the earliest forming Category 5 Atlantic hurricane in a season and the most intense to form before August. And it made it’s first...that’s right...its first landfall on This Day in Weather History...July 18th, 2005.
