In 1946, an unknown player kept slinging insults as the umpire during a game between Chicago and Boston at Fenway. The ump threw out a total of 14 White Sox and still did not get rid of the offender.
In 2009, Formula 2 driver Henry Surtees was killed in a freakish accident. It did lead to improvements in driver safety.
