In 1982, North Carolina beat Georgetown 63-62 to win the National title

In 1976, Indiana finished the season a perfect 32-0, winning the national championship against Michigan. 


In 1981, Louisiana Tech won the AIAW championship. It wasn't the last one but it was the last one before the NCAA started its own women's post-season tournament. 


In 1998, the Tennessee Lady Vols won their third straight NCAA championship. 


In 1977, the NFL expanded the regular season to 16 games.


And in 1867, Cy Young was born.
