Vince Sellers - When You Don't Come Home. Ep. 6, Part 2

Lately we've been reminded far too often that coming home safely is not a given for any law enforcement official. The job has inherent risks and the strain of never truly being "off duty" takes its toll. As I conclude this 2-part series with former FBI agent Vince Sellers, the episode takes a somber note as Vince shares about Special Agent Laura Schwartzenberger.
 
Laura was killed while executing a search warrant on February 2nd, 2021. Vince knew Laura personally and shares some of her story toward the end of the episode. She was a wonderful person, wife & mother who is greatly missed and I've chosen to dedicate this episode in Laura's honor.

This week's episode covers through the later stages of Vince's career in the FBI through the end, as well as some reflections on what he learned looking back. He shares on the challenge of knowing when it's time to move on in your career and how to go about doing it. He also shares some interesting perspectives on how he viewed the criminals he dealt with and ways for law enforcement to continue to evolve and grow.

Vince is currently the Enterprise Architect for the Comptroller's Office for the State of Texas. He also serves as a Commissioner for the City of Austin Community Police Review Commission.

When he's not at work, he's composing & recording music as the Austin Apologue and entering his pugs into costume contests. He also has a deep knowledge of pinball machines.
