Flower Essence Therapy has been gaining popularity as an emotional therapy. Dr. Bach, the forefather of flower essence therapy, was a leading edge activist for flower therapy as emotional therapy. On our Ireland retreat in 2019, I was inspired by my friend and flower essence colleague who shared the history and teachings of Dr. Bach. One quote, in particular, resonated with me: "Our emotional response determines how we heal."
This idea is beautifully woven into Tantric philosophy, which emphasizes the intricate connection between mind and body. Our personality, which is shaped by our thoughts and feelings, can be revealed by how we speak and act. Negative emotions inevitably hinder our body's ability to heal itself. That's where flower essences come in to support us with potent alchemy.
Flower essences can help to transmute negative emotions into positive ones. When we work with the flowers, we bring in waves of positive emotions to negate the negative acute or stored emotions to heal the body. They literally flood the body with positive energy (called virtues by Dr. Bach) that align with our vital essence and connect to and get strength from the light of the soul.
Interestingly, the Cherokee believed that for every illness, there is a plant to cure. This is a belief that has been echoed in the field of Flower Essence Therapy, where each flower is believed to specifically meet and transmute a particular emotion and/or mental state. It's amazing to see the similarities in ancient wisdom across different cultures and how they still hold relevance today.
