5Q #7 The Hero's Journey By Phil Stokes 19 - 11 - 2017

Phil landed our 5Q series by reminding us that in our growth to maturity we each are to experience and learn to leverage all of the other APEST functions, even as we grow in our main calling. He then spoke on how our discipleship can be seen in the classic 'Hero's journey' which is embedded in all great stories and myths. Jesus is the archetype and fulfilment of these legends as he completes his perfect hero's journey, and wins APEST to distribute to us at his ascension. Phil explained the cultural tradition of the victors Triumphal Entry, which Paul is referencing in the Ephesians 4 passage. Jesus both affirms and subverts the image of a conquerer by entering Jerusalem on a donkey.
