Guest: Irene "Jenny" Pickens, Acclaimed Artist

Irene 'Jenny' Pickens is a self taught artist from Asheville, NC. Her love for art began at a young age when she would find random forms to draw. As she grew older, she experimented with different mediums, including pencil, pen and ink, pastels, oils, and acrylic. Her passion has always been in acrylic painting on canvas. Jenny was involved in the installation of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) mural in downtown Asheville, where she was the lead artist for the word Lives. Additionally in 2020, Jenny was commissioned by Rae Geoffrey, managing director of the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts, to design and paint a mural for the center’s new courtyard.
