Congress Announces New Target: Chinese College Students

Developments in Washington have signaled a new Red Scare on college campuses. First, the House introduced a bill which would ban student visas for all Chinese nationals. And then shortly after that, a Congressional committee sent letters to the presidents of several universities demanding they hand over information on their Chinese students. This week, Amanda is joined by historian Mark Tseng-Putterman, and the two discuss these alarming developments, how U.S. foreign policy directly leads to attacks on Asian American communities, and parallels between the McCarthyite tactics of the Cold War and the targeting of Chinese people in the U.S. today.
