In this episode of the Tribe of Runners podcast, host Liz Myers (thats me) opens up about one of the hardest parts of being a runner... when races don’t go as planned. From injuries that force tough decisions like a DNF to not being able to race the race you've been training for to uncontrollable factors like weather or environmental conditions - those act of god that we cannot control. These setbacks are an inevitable part of the sport. I shares some of my own personal journey of facing injury and dropping out of a major race, offering an honest look at the emotional side of these experiences.
Through my reflections, I try to highlight the importance of processing the disappointment, leaning on support systems, and making mindset shifts that turn setbacks into opportunities for growth. I also share practical strategies for adapting training, finding fresh motivation through new races, and keeping a positive outlook on the journey ahead.
