Spending time building a base will push your training progress forward more than any other tool.
Often early on in someones lifting journey they chase strength and really sit on the limit in terms of intensity. At this point you can feel really burnt out, sustain an injury or fall out of love with lifting all together.
Shifting your mindset to the long game and building the qualities you want through these base building phases are vital to your journey and long term progress.
These periods are really hard work, like really hard but will pay dividends.
