Hear real stories of people living with heart and circulatory conditions. You'll hear of challenges, but also reasons to hope.
The Tickers Tapes began life as a podcast exploring the topic of women and heart disease. In the first few episodes, we heard from Carol, Zena and Esther. In raw and honest, yet intimate group conversations, each told us about their experience of having a heart attack. These first instalments of The Ticker Tapes were hosted by author and Guardian journalist Lucy Mangan. A lot was covered, from discussions on their self-esteem, to their work-life, to other subjects, such as their sex lives.
In early 2021, The Ticker Tapes returned, but in a slightly different way. In one-on-one conversations, we are now bringing you stories of people living with all different types of heart and circulatory conditions. You'll hear how a heart attack or a stroke, or a diagnosis of vascular dementia, can change the course of a life. You'll hear the challenges and the low-points, but also reasons to be cheerful.
The Ticker Tapes is a podcast mainly for people who are living with heart or circulatory conditions. We hope these episodes will offer solidarity and hope in the face of what can be extraordinarily difficult times. These episodes, we hope, will show you that you're not alone - that others have gone through what you are going through.
You'll hear stories of resilience and bravery, and how humour and friendship is often the best medicine, alongside, of course, good heart and circulatory care.
From time to time, you'll also hear special episodes with our BHF celebrity ambassadors, and episodes to mark major moments, such as the BHF's 60th anniversary, coming later in 2021.
So, see you soon, on The Ticker Tapes!
