LisaBeth Calvo and Christina Isidoro, two talented and experienced teachers in the toddler room, talk about how they support children make the transition to preschool, typically their first “home away from home.” They help the child and parents feel psychologically safe so that they can take this step forward in development and help the child explore the world beyond the walls of their family home. In doing this, they support the development of the core competency of making transitions flexibly, a competency used throughout life.
