KEY TAKEAWAYS
What's your background?
I loved football and basketball but found everything else boring and left school as soon as I could.
I made a decision based on the fact I liked to talk to get into television and I did
I wasn’t good at selling myself but was prepared to go the extra mile. You had to be persistent and it was the boom time for TV.
There is always an element of luck. Persistence and desperation played a huge part in driving me forward.
What’s it’s like presenting ‘The Sunday Brunch’?
The most important work in a show is completed before you go on air. It involves speaking with the guests and getting to know them, putting them at ease and getting a feel for what they are thinking.
There have been some really interesting guests when you meet bands you realise that to be successful they have to work really hard and put the time in.
What’s your take on Social Media?
I have a real problem with social media because I have to use it. I need to gain feedback via social media and am aware that it takes over my time.
You can easily get caught in the cycle, it’s a real problem for me but I am able to acknowledge it.
You have spoken in the past about suffering from depression, what was it like?
When I first started getting depression I never told anybody because I was worried it would mean losing my job and friends. Now when I’m going through a period of depression I am open and tell others. Being depressed hurts, humans are very good at moving on from things and you don’t keep remembering how dark it was.
I eventually sought help through therapy and also read extensively to understand why I felt the way I did.
When you are coming out of depression you can then see the good things the reasons to enjoy life.
When I  have depression there is something wrong in my life, it’s me telling me it’s not working.
Is it important to have a purpose in life?
Finding a purpose in life is important, doing my podcast where I get to interview interesting people is important to me.
My investments are about investing in me through things such as podcasts.
It’s definitely worth trying to find purpose, if you can do it across different aspects of your life then there will be a better balance in your life.
What's next?
I like it when things change and currently, YouTube is evolving and looking at more long form formats and this makes it a very interesting area to be in at the moment. If you want to become credible then make sure you are visible to your audience so they can get to know you, then other opportunities may come from it.
There is no finishing line in life, every day there is a battle the hardest lesson to learn is that you are responsible for your life.

BEST MOMENTS
‘It’s a tough job if you are just trying to make money’
‘Persistence and desperation played a huge part in driving me forward’
‘There is nothing to know on TV just ideas’
The relentlessness of posting if you are an influencer is intense
‘It doesn’t matter what you buy or own you have to make a decision about it’
