Steven’s guest this time is Marcello Spooks, as Spotify calls him, “one of the most authentic all-rounders in the flourishing UK scene”.
Marcello’s music comes from his soul, engineered specifically to give his listeners a sense of progression and growth; to make them able to conquer what’s ahead of them.
In this powerful conversation, you’ll learn about Marcello’s background, his message, his methodology, the power of adversity, realising your self-worth, and the importance of making art that’s true to the artist.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

The main reason Marcello makes music is to lift people up; songs that make you feel and think at the same time, an experience through music that leaves you feeling better about yourself, or something you might be going through.
Music has been Marcello’s best friend, especially through the tougher times. Music and art have been his catharsis. Challenges can be met head-on and translated to art, which in turn helps to heal others who need it.
The most powerful way to deal with tragedy or adversity in your life is to channel that experience into your art. Each experience leaves a powerful mark, and it’s a testament to your character if you can turn that pain into a lesson.
Music is a reflection of your reality. Drill is an evolution of Grime, more graphic and more intense. It evolved quietly, and unfortunately is being exploited by people like BBC One Extra, who are taking intensely personal Drill songs about life experiences and turning them into hits. Kids now think this is the norm, when that isn’t the case.
Finding your purpose and going for it is essentially for your soul. Negativity and heartache manifested itself in a physical condition throughout 2017 for Marcello. But by embracing the positives in his life, the pain has slowly faded away.
Confidence is everything. Confidence in the fact that you’re living the best version of yourself. You only have one shot. Do your best to make sure that you, and the people around you, feel the best that they can in any given moment.
Ask for what you want and don’t feel scared. Life in general operates on a single wavelength. The moment you raise yourself above, everyone else has to jump. Work out your self-value and don’t compromise. There’s a point where you have to draw a line in the sand and affirm your value.
True self-confidence is not something you’re born with. It’s often the result of years of self-development. It’s fine to be that confident. It means you believe in yourself, and it’s too rare these days.
Adversity is never personal. Remember that bad things happen and they’re out of your control. Saints die in tsunamis. The universe doesn’t have an agenda against you.

ABOUT THE HOST
The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. My view is you should have multiple focuses to be a well-rounded individual. Success shouldn't be just one thing like money, for example, it should also consist of a healthy fit lifestyle and thriving relationships.
As a person who has made a success in life and also made huge cock-ups I feel I can offer suggestions and tips on how to become successful or at least start your pursuit. My 'Study' has taken resources from reading and education plus being around, my perception, of successful people and I, know a lot of successful people from all walks of life.
My 'Study' coming from my experiences in business, investing, sales (my core background), training, boxing and education has enabled me to become well rounded and successful and I will help you in these key areas too.
