KEY TAKEAWAYS
What does boxing mean to you?
Whatever you want to do it’s the focus and the consistency that counts.
Without boxing, I wouldn’t have realised the importance of focus and consistency in reaching and achieving your goals.
Achieving better levels of fitness altered my mindset. I was able to see that working hard and being consistent were attributes that could be used in any field or business.
How important are mentors?
My mentors have been the people who have been my coaches. I have learnt about finance and investment from them and by watching how other people live and the mistakes they make I have been able to manage my own life successfully.
How important is it to build for the future?
Many professional athletes make the mistake of spending to build an image rather than investing to build for the future but it’s better to be rich rather than look rich.
The fundamentals of buying assets or liabilities are understanding that liability is something that is costing you money, such as a car, whilst an asset is something that puts money into your pocket. Even if the amount is small, if it is regular such as every month it will compound.
Was education important?
School serves a purpose but its outdated and you are not given the opportunity to learn about what matters in life such as understanding finance, tax and how to start a business. It is as if you are being programmed to fail.
What’s the difference between a boxing training regime and a fitness regime?
In boxing, you are working every muscle in your body. You need to work much harder to improve and maintain fitness across all areas of your body making fitness in boxing much harder to achieve than in other sports.
How important is it for you to promote yourself?
As a fighter its vital to bring attention to yourself, however, you do it. On the build-up, to a fight, you should be posting every day on social media to build interest. A fighter can be good but it’s vital he puts himself out there.

BEST MOMENTS
‘Boxing has given me a huge amount of confidence. Having confidence is a life skill that is transferable’
‘I look for opportunities to keep myself in the public eye, this arrogant persona is all an act’
‘You need all sorts of different characters in this sport’
‘You need to work very hard on the right thing’
