Health and fitness should always be put high up on your list. Though we’ve seen a huge trend on how people are becoming more aware and more mindful of how they take care of themselves, most can’t sustain, and even start, their fitness journey.
In this episode, Steven talks to Mel Deane, a former rugby player and now a professional fitness consultant to talk about how you can achieve your fitness goals. When you are healthy physically and mentally, you and your goals are unstoppable. So, for Mel, to reach your target level of fitness, it’s important that you have a customised technique that works for you.
Listen to them also talk about decision-making, commitment, financial education and Mel’s career journey from an athlete to an entrepreneur. Discover more about these when you tune in.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Mel takes pride in taking care of his nutrition and fitness before even starting his professional rugby career. This practice of him has benefitted him ever since, especially now that he’s managing his own business.
Sports was something Mel saw and considered a haven when he was young. He was overweight and bullied when he was a kid, so he thought if he learned a sport, none of the bullying will happen anymore.
Whenever you make an important decision, make sure you have all the resources first. It must bring a huge impact on any aspect of your life.
Commitment is a key attribute to anyone’s success. If you’ve set your goal, made the plans, and about to start the journey, be dedicated. There’s no backing out now.
Despite the necessity to forward in your career, financial education is something that isn’t accessible to anyone.

ABOUT THE HOST
The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. My view is you should focus on a number of key areas to be a well-rounded individual. Success should not be just one thing like money, for example, it should also consist of a healthy fit lifestyle and thriving relationships. As a person who has made a success in life and also made some cock-ups, I can offer suggestions and tips on how to become successful or at least start your pursuit of success.
I started from leaving school at 16 with very poor school results to pursue a career in plumbing following the directions of my parents that then lead me to a barrister's chamber and then to a sales floor. From here, I established a foothold in the sales market promoting financial products as well as being a founder of an art agency that has a Soho based art studio.
In addition, I have invested into an urban fashion brand and into a wellness tech company, and my latest addition to the business portfolio is a property company that which creates HMO's in Medway, Kent. The diverse range of industries I find myself in has allowed me to create wealth that enables me to be my own boss so I can pursue my dreams.
As a former boxer and avid sportsman, I find there are similarities between the running of businesses and competing. In my episodes, I will be sharing some of my experiences to explore deeper these connections and how they may bring you success."
