Police officers have a tough job. Every day they risk their lives to protect us and have to walk the fine line of intuition and instincts. In today’s episode, Amy introduces us to Deputy Crista Rainey who gives an inside look at what it's really like being a police officer, serving our communities.
Crista tells us how she uses her intuition to help her do her job and how she processes the traumatic events she’s been exposed to. She says some departments are doing just enough to support trauma release for their officers, but they aren't going far enough when dealing with officer-related issues. She wants better checks and balances. Crista’s experiences as a cop have ranged from terrifying to ridiculous. She shares some of her most memorable stories, including one where a lady couldn’t wait to go to the bathroom while riding in the back of her police car! Crista also advises us how to best deal when law enforcement encounters are inevitable— she says, be honest but throwing in “I’m sorry” couldn’t hurt either. Amy has mentioned before, wanting to assist police officers and other emergency service workers to learn EFT.
