Thank you for tuning in to the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast, your source for whitetail hunting stories and tactics in the south. This week we are diving deep into the subject of thermal winds, and how they can be used to maximize your time in the woods. Thermals are not something you would normally hear discussed in depth, but for us they have completely revolutionized the way that we hunt. We invited a fellow TheHuntingBeast.com member and Alabama native, Nathan Protz, on the show to discuss how he has learned to use thermals to determine his hunting locations on public land, as well as how he sees deer use thermals in their bedding and travel patterns.
This was an especially fun episode because Parker had some public land kayak hunting success on the archery opener in Alabama the day before we recorded. This was his first day hunting from the new Tethrd Mantis saddle, and the first blood drawn with the New Breed Archery GX2. If you like a good DIY public land hunting story, you’ll enjoy hearing about this hunt.
