In life, the ability to highlight your skills and knowledge in times when needed, is a huge advantage. Being able to sell oneself for the right position, pay grade, person or idea, is an accolade in and of itself. Not having "professional experience" or "the common skillset", should never discourage you from applying for that job. We take away skills and knowledge from every experience.
