The Seeds of Learning Episode 2

Today we're discussing chapters three and four from The Seeds of Learning by Tera Sumpter, M.A., CCC-SLP. Chapter three covers executive functioning and how it impacts speech, language, learning, and pretty much every single task a person will ever perform. Tera goes over how weaknesses in executive functioning impact the assessments we do, making it difficult to tease out where the deficits truly lie. She also explains that pragmatic language is a function of the executive functioning system, which is why children with executive functioning deficits often struggle with social skills. Chapter four of the book is about application of Tera's cognitive processing model in the school setting.
