Today we continue our discussion of Lisa Murphy on Play: The Foundation of Children's Learning by Lisa Murphy. We're going through chapters 5-9 of the book, which continue to cover Lisa's backstory, including opening her own childcare center out of her home, ditching traditional lesson planning, discovering that the children's interests could guide her curriculum, attending a conference that changed the course of her career, and beginning to hold workshops and presentations for other early childhood educators. We discuss "The Seven Things" that make up the framework of Lisa's play-based learning program: create, move, sing, discuss, observe, read, and play. We cover the connection between playful learning and Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP). We get vulnerable, share some laughs, and learn a lot in this episode. Hope you enjoy it!
