Nobody Expects the Spanish Inquisition!

John the Baptist was worried that Jesus wasn't the Messiah because he wasn't doing what John expected.

The people coming to see Jesus were doing so because they were looking for entertainment or healing, but not to learn something new, because Jesus wasn't teaching what they expected.

How much of your spiritual life is formed by expectations rather than by following Jesus?
