012 The Consciousness and Sexuality of Pregnancy and Birth, Home birth, and Orgasmic Birth with Ashley Shakti

A mother of daughters, and dedicated protector of the sanctity of birth, Ashley is a certified holistic doula, apprentice midwife and womens wellness coach. She completed a bachelors degree in midwifery and womens health, and is in her 5th year of a homebirth midwifery apprenticeship assisting families in birthing their babies in the sacred space of their homes.

She speaks to her own horrific experience in a hospital birth setting and how she went forward to support women to know more information and options for their births. I share some of my own home birthing experiences for which Ashley was my doula, and she talks about the cycles of the birthing process as a journey, similar to a prolonged medicine journey. Indeed discussing as well how the birth process induces one into altered states of consciousness and can be quite psychedelic. We touch on orgasmic birth, and the journey pregnancy and birth as a sexual experience.
