:10 James introduces the show and we recap our memories of New Year’s growing up and in the present.
12:36 We talk about the comments that listeners made on the Facebook group for this episode. We start off with Keith Tarnowski asking us if we can talk about current tv shows and movies. Josh Bernhard adds to Keith’s comment, saying he would like to hear us talk about what we are currently reading and watching.
17:46 We read a comment from Arco Esposito, who asks us to talk about the X-Men. We discuss having him on the podcast to talk about the X-Men characters and the series.
19:52 Richie Garofalo added on to Arco’s comment, asking if we could post on the Facebook group the comics that we recommend and talk about on the show.
21:43 We read a comment from Brad Schaffer, asking us to talk about the animated DC universe shows and cartoon movies. This reminds us that we have yet to record the episode in which Joe and Chris talk about their differences of opinion on Young Justice. This also leads us into a larger conversation about balancing the show between guests and topic shows.
25:50 We read a comment from Steve Perel, who would love to see an episode with all three owners of Mint. He also shares a list of questions he would like to hear answered.
28:00 We read a comment from Patrick Louie, who would like us to read or watch something with which we are not familiar and talk about why we did or did not like it. Richie Garofalo adds on to Patrick’s comment, saying Steve Perel should be part of that discussion. Steve comments on the comment that launches us into discussion about Steve and how he owns “waiting for the trade.”
33:00 Patrick adds to that comment thread, asking us to weigh in on stuff we don’t like but which has had an impact on the industry. This leads us to talk about some things that have affected pop culture even when we didn’t like it or it may not have been for us.
36:19 Josh adds that we should make a case for something that the other two aren’t into, such as westerns. We start talking about you never know what you might enjoy depending on who introduces it and how you are introduced to it. Josh also adds that he’d like us to talk about recommendations for people who are not into comics.
40:50 We read a comment from Robert Spinelli, who asks if we could talk about the adaptations of DC/ Marvel comics into TV and film, as well as the effect that Mint had on the Port Washington community. We launch into a discussion about adaptations, both good and bad, and the importance of Mint Condition to Port Washington. 50:57 We launch into our list of best of 2021, covering a wide array of things including: The Expanse, Rick and Morty, the current run of the Flash, Thor, Ninja Turtles, the baseball season and much, much more. 1:00:29. We give a few honorable mentions of 2021, covering a few more books, TV shows, board games and more.
