In the upcoming episode, we will dive into the complex topic of alcohol in religion, With our Master Aba Al-Sadiq and special guest, Guillaume Ballet. Our exploration will lead us back to the foundational texts of Judaism, Christianity, and finally, Islam. In Judaism and the Old Testament, we encounter numerous instances of prophets engaging in drinking, and occasionally succumbing to drunkenness. From Noah producing wine to Lot consuming it, poetic psalms celebrating wine, to restrictions on entering the temple while under the influence, wine plays a notable role. In Christianity, wine is elevated to the status of a sacrament. Jesus' inaugural miracle involved transforming water into wine, and the last supper appears to involve a wine-drinking ritual. When we turn to Islam, we encounter the prohibition of alcohol, despite its revered status in previous traditions. We'll explore the reasons provided in Islamic texts and address the question of whether this prohibition will ever be lifted. Join us for an enlightening episode of the School of Divine Mysteries, promising both informative insights and inspiration. 🙏 May the peace and blessings of God be upon you all.
