Shauna O'Keeffe - Going Pro

This week’s guests are 2023 Irish Elite champ, Shauna O’Keeffe, who makes her pro debut at London’s York Hall on December 8, and her trainer/co-manager Kevin Mitchell. ‘The Hammer’ was one of Britain’s most popular boxers in the last two decades, racking up 39 wins and taking part in famous showdowns against the likes of John Murray, Michael Katsidis, Ricky Burns and Jorge Linares. He's been there, done that, and reckons Clonmel’s Shauna can go one better than him and win a world title having been massively impressed with her since she made the switch to the UK during the summer. In the amateurs, she fought them all, going in against Katie Taylor, Kellie Harrington and Amy Broadhurst, while outside the ropes she’s battled an eating disorder and come out with her hand raised. Shauna discusses those days in the vest, why she stopped boxing from 2017-2023, her comeback, pro dreams, body dysmorphia and her own ambitions for a homecoming. We also look ahead to Taylor’s rematch with Chantelle Cameron on Saturday night, with analysis from Mitchell and O’Keeffe on where the Irish hero can improve to gain revenge over her rival.
