READ TOGETHER:
John 2:1-11
DISCUSS:
• Why do you think John chose to record the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine? What does this miracle reveal about Jesus Christ?
• What enabled Jesus to transform inorganic, non-living water into an organic substance? What enables Jesus to transform sinners into saints?
• In his book, “Miracles,” C. S. Lewis points out that, “every miracle of Jesus is simply a kind of short-circuiting of a natural process; a doing instantly of something which in general takes a longer period of time.” Discuss what you think that statement means?
• Jesus is the Bridegroom and we are the Bride. Discuss the significance of that imagery. What does it communicate to you as a part of the Body of Christ?
• Jesus' mother told the servants, "Whatever He (Jesus) says to you, do it." (John 2:5) What does this reveal about Jesus' relationship with His mother? What did Jesus mean when He said, “His time has not yet come.”
• The disciples saw the glory of Jesus and believed in him. How do you see the glory of Jesus on display in the world today? How do you see the glory on display in/through you?
• Jesus changes what’s lifeless into something full of life. In what ways have you “lifeless” (past or present)? How can Jesus provide ultimate fulfillment for you in these areas?
PRAY:
Pray that the power and glory of Jesus will be reveal in and through one another. Pray for The Ridge and our community for increased faith and belief in the transforming power of Christ.
PRACTICE (on your own):
One of the great ways God reveals His glory and power is through His people. Here are three ways to bring glory to God.
1. Glorify God by Our Faith - to give glory to God is to believe God is Who the Bible says He is, and to rely upon His power and faithfulness.
2. Glorify God by Our Worship - We can glorify God in many ways, but Scripture indicates that nothing we do delights God more than calling on His name with sincere hearts and declaring that all glory belongs to Him.
3. Glorify God in All We Do - As we believe in Christ to the glory of God and declare His glory in our worship, grateful obedience will flow from our lives.
