Read on for today's agenda below prepared by David (thank you very much). - Retired US Diplomat to 5 different nations David Hunter shares his knowledge, passion, interest, and experience.
1) What Gives Elon Musk The Right To Pretend He is US Secretary of State?: This month, one of the world's richest men, Mr. Musk has been involved in making public 'recommendations' that Ukraine give up parts of its territory to Putin, to avoid WWIII, etc. He claims he knows how to solve the war better than 'US experts'. Who is Musk to make such claims?
2) Is Iran Supplying Suicide Drones to Russia for War in Ukraine?: Iran allegedly has agreed to sell 2,300 suicide drones to Russia, which are being used to attack Ukrainian targets including HIMAR missile batteries, port facilities and even apartment buildings and hospitals. These are fired from very long range, often 2000 km from target, and are difficult to detect and shoot down. Is this a game changer that will let Putin gain advantage in Ukraine? Does this mean a growing Iran-Russia military alliance?
3) Saudi Arabia Joining With Russia to Raise Cost of Gasoline in US and Europe?: Saudi Arabia supported Russia's initiative to cut oil production in OPEC+ by two million barrels per day, in what as an obvious slap at President Joe Biden who had personally visited Crown Prince MBS only two months earlier, asking him to increase crude oil production. Is this a sign Saudi Arabia is no longer a reliable US ally, if it ever was one? If so, what does it mean for the future of US-Saudi relations?
4) Pres Xi Holds Absolute Power over Chinese Peoples Congress: On Sunday, Xi opened the Peoples Party Congress ---which meets every five years---where he is 'running for reelection' as General Secretary of the Communist Party. What is the significance of him getting a 'third term' as China's ruler? Does he hold absolute power? What does that mean for US-China relations?
5) Is the International Criminal Court (ICC) Just A Mockery of Law?: Can the UN- supported ICC really bring Russian War Crimes to trial and punishment? The ICC was created out of thin air, partly as a result of a request by Trinidad and Tobago to have a court system to prosecute international drug dealers. It was finally created in 2002. Does the ICC have ability to hold Russia accountable for it's War Crimes against Ukraine?
