US Secretary of State at NATO -  China Support for Military Coup in Burma? - New China-Iran Axis?

Retired US Diplomat to 5 different nations  David Hunter shares his knowledge, passion, interest, and experience.

Today’s Agenda…

1)  US Secretary of State at NATO:  Last week, Sec. of State Tony Blinken attended NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting in Brussels.  "We want to revitalize the alliance, to make sure it's as strong and effective against the threats of today as it has been in the past," Blinken said.   NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the alliance is "now opening a new chapter" in our transatlantic relationship.  What did he mean?   Can US resume its old role after Trump?

2) New China-Iran Axis?:  The Wall Street Journal lead op-ed on Tuesday was on the China-Iran Axis. This was following a meeting of the two countries where they just signed in Tehran last Saturday a $400 billion  strategic partnership deal  w/China investing  into Iranian projects in nuclear power, oil and gas, ports, and commitment to buy Iranian oil.  This may make Iran's willingness to comply w/the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal more complex.  What do you think?

3) China Support for Military Coup in Burma?: Reuters reported Feb 1, 2021 "China’s foreign minister Wang Yi met last month (Jan 2021)  in Myanmar’s capital with the military chief, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, making Wang one of the last foreign dignitaries to visit before the coup.....and the Myanmar military raised complaints to Wang about Myanmar’s Nov. 8 election, saying it was marred by fraud, "    Did China give a 'green light' for the military coup in Burma?  Did it want to see an end of democracy on its border?
