ADVERTISING ON HOLD
One day while Robert Hereford was on hold on the telephone with a local Ford car dealership, he heard an advertisement for the dealership broadcast over a radio station.
When Hereford called back later in the week to check on his car, he heard a commercial for the dealership's competitor broadcast by the same radio station while on hold.
It was then he realized the value for businesses to communicate their products and services to their callers while on hold. Hereford founded Advertising On Hold in 1988 as a result of the experience.
