Reloading Podcast 519 – What to do and what not to do at the range while sighting in

Do



Be courteous







Practice firearm safety







Ask permission to assist.







Listen to the RO’s







Do say something nicely if you see unsafe behavior







Do have a first aid/trauma kit







Bug repellent/sunscreen







Food and Water







Do use chamber flags (string trimmer line)







Do bring tools, and proper equipment







Bring the correct ammo for the firearm your bringing







Do bring a squib rod







Do bring a cleaning kit







Do bring a flashlight 







Do bring a shooting rest of some sort







Do have extra batteries for your devices and have a backup charger







Police your brass











Don’t



Flag anyone







Walk around with a closed chamber







Don’t make anyone mad/irritated







Don’t be a brass goblin if you want brass, ask.







Don’t leave your targets up







Don’t conduct yourself so you are constantly interrupting the shooting line to go downrange







Don’t shoot your neighbor’s target (unless necessary) 







Don’t play music on a speaker or in your hearing protection 







Rush. take your time and do what you need to do

Steps to sight in your optic.









Use a good quality rest that won’t shift. 







Fire one shot, then adjust crosshairs to impact (where bullet hit) without moving rifle.







Fire one shot and make any more adjustments







Keep firing one shot and adjusting until satisfied.







Fire 5 shot group to confirm, waiting in between shots to keep barrel from heating up







Fire a standing shot without a shooting aid
