How can you grow a growth mindset? Here are 15 +1 ways to get started today!
- Acknowledge and embrace imperfections vs hiding from your weaknesses. You cannot overcome what you’re unwilling to address.
- View challenges as opportunities. “Fail forward” use stumbles as constructive feedback vs. debilitating criticism and rejection.
- Stop seeking approval. Train yourself to value learning over approval
Value the process over the end result. - Cultivate a sense of purpose. Understand the bigger picture WHY you’re going about things.
- Celebrate along the way and with others.
- Emphasise growth over speed. Learning fast isn’t the same as learning well, and learning well sometimes requires allowing time for mistakes.
- Provide regular opportunities for reflection.
- Cultivate grit. Your grit defines your perseverance to meet your goals. It is the amount of effort you are willing to put forth to accomplish something and your willingness to keep moving–no matter how difficult things get–when the reward is far away. In order to have a growth mindset, you have to cultivate grit. To develop grit, you must find something that you’re interested in learning and do anything it takes to improve that skill every day. You also have to believe it’s possible to make progress, greatly improve, and succeed–as long as you’re putting in the necessary work.
- Change your vocabulary- omit four letter words like can’t.
- Learn from other people’s mistakes.
- Make a new goal for every goal accomplished.
- Collaborate with others:)
- Think realistically.
- Take ownership over your attitude.
- Make personal development a priority for yourself.
- Retrain your brain by noticing 3 positive changes per day
