8-12-25 Watch the Weakness in the Rally | Before the Bell

Markets have been in an interesting, up/down, up/down pattern over the past week and a half, stair-stepping through a recovery rally, and now again approaching new all-time highs. Relative strength continues to moderate, and momentum remains in a weakening trend. Money flows are weak, as well. So while the recent rally has been good, it has been on very narrow breadth. In fact, yesterday's NASDAQ rally only included 48% of the index members (the lowest on record). This has not been a hallmark, bull market rally, and because of its inherent weakness, any data coming out over the next few weeks has the potential to cause yet another decline or correction. This is a rally in which you want to be managing risk very carefully.
