In this episode, we discuss how one of split banking's greatest benefits – the ability to borrow more – no longer exists. This was caused by the removal of the LVR restrictions by the Reserve Bank at the start of the first Covid-19 lockdown.
So should you still do it? We suggest that you should, not just because of the other benefits of split banking, but also because the removal of the LVR limits are temporary. So, if they come back in, you still want your portfolio to be in the most equity-efficient position. And that is what split banking enables.
