(CAUTION: story contains stories and themes of slavery)
The House of Bondage by Octavia V. Rogers Albert illuminates the true and often terrible stories that people who were former slaves experienced, before, during and after the American Civil War. It is an historical giant of classical literature, written by an African American woman, that has been sadly overshadowed by similar works.
