Introduction

Hello. I’m Geoff Ashton a professional coach, mentor, podcaster and occasional Christian spiritual director. 

And welcome to this first of my podcasts which share some of my discoveries on my personal and professional journey. I sub-titled the podcast, “on a journey with a pilgrim coach” inspired by a thought - I think it was from theologian and scientists Alister McGrath - about the difference between a pilgrim and a tourist. Whereas a tourist may visit a place looking for an experience, or a memory, or perhaps a souvenir, the pilgrim sees his or her journey as a search for transformation. When you leave a place of pilgrimage, something of the place stays with you, becomes part of you and continues to live itself out through you.

Most of these podcasts will be in the form of soliloquies. I will be thinking aloud and inviting you to think along with me. We will also be spending time in the company of people who have informed my journey by their thoughts and writings. Some episodes are recorded with people who have shared this journey with me.

I hope you will find, within these recordings, practical wisdom you can apply in the challenges and opportunities of life, stimulating questions and helpful links to other resources.
