Join us in beautiful Asheville NC were we visit the former home of Highland Hospital. Founded during what seemed to be a wave of sanitariums across the country, Highland Hospital incorporated common medical practices, or torture, with getting out in nature and a good diet.
One of the more well known patients was Zelda Fitzgerald, who sadly lost her life at this hospital in 1948, but is said to still be roaming the neighborhood today.
Not open for public viewing, you can still take a stroll through the neighborhood and maybe even see Mrs. Zelda for yourself. Take a listen and see if you might want to visit here someday.
Huge shout out to Mountain Murders: An Appalachian True Crime Podcast for their episode on the hospital.
