UPDATE: 26-year-old Luigi Mangione has officially been arrested, according to NYPDand Jessica Tisch. Mangione, originally from Maryland with a last known address in Hawaii, has no prior arrest record. He was apprehended at a McDonald’s in Altoona, PA, after an employee recognized him and alerted authorities, suspecting he was the CEO Shooter.
At the time of his arrest, Mangione was carrying multiple fake IDs, including the New Jersey ID used at the NYC hostel, as well as a “ghost gun,” an untraceable weapon. He also had a two-page manifesto criticizing the healthcare industry and advocating for violence as a solution.
The NYPD has stated there are no known additional threats and is currently reviewing his social media accounts as part of the investigation. Mangione is expected to be extradited to NYC as the investigation continues. They also stated that all of the video and surveillance footage played a major role in his apprehension. More to come!
