Dennis Hof has revolutionized the industry of legal prostitution. Purchasing
the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in 1992, he took the Nevada brothel business out of
the shadows of society and brought it directly into America's living rooms.
Launching the hit show "Cathouse" on HBO in 2002, the reality style look
into the sex industry is now in it's 13th season, airing in 49 countries in
27 languages. Hof himself is a larger than life persona who is a regular on
major TV networks and cable news channels. From Oprah Winfrey to Saturday
Night Live, "The Bunny Ranch" has become an instantly recognizable reference
in American culture. Rock stars have referenced him in song, and pundits
have looked to him as a reliably opinionated panelist and commentator.
Hof's notoriety has taken him around the world, including an invitation to
speak at Oxford University in England, joining six U.S. presidents in
receiving that honor. Expanding his empire beyond "America's Cathouse" in
1996 and again in 2011, Hof added five more brothel licenses to his
portfolio, now accounting for ownership of a third of the entire industry.
His brand now blankets the entire state, with the Bunny Ranch, Love Ranch
North and Kit Kat brothels located near Reno, while the Alien Cathouse and
Love Ranch South brothels are just outside of Las Vegas. Dennis maintains
an exhaustive media schedule, regularly doing as many as eight television
and radio shows in a day. By night, Hof is equally active with his social
life, being known as a regular at The Playboy Mansion as well as awards
shows, premieres, and other celebrity events.
