In this episode Devon sits down with Hudson to discuss Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was arguably the closest thing Star Wars fans got to a tie-in game for Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones. Hudson and Devon both spent some time with this (mostly) vehicular combat game back when it was originally released for the Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox shortly after its film counterpart came out. While the game borrows characters, planets and various types of tanks, creatures and ships from Episode 2, it ditches the romance, and just lets the player blow stuff up. Since the game crafts its own story, Devon and Hudson get to decide if the events of the game still fit within the overall story, and they weigh in on the game’s strengths and weaknesses as it tries to replicate character relationships while also introducing new characters, locales and its own force-sucking super weapon. This game may be forgotten and largely decanonized thanks to the success of the animated series that bears the same name, but there’s still a fair bit of fun to be had in this little side note from 2002.
