OMGP: Batman Forever (SEGA Genesis)

In this episode of the Obligatory Movie Game Podcast series Devon sits down with Quentin to discuss the side-scrolling beat-em-up Batman Forever for the SEGA Genesis. There have been a whole batload of Batman games over the years, but this panned tie-in rarely makes Best Batman Games lists thanks to its wonky controls, goofy look, and vexing difficulty. Devon and Quentin praise many of the traditionally misunderstood aspects of Joel Schumacher’s “pop culture opera,” but sadly, the game developers didn’t seem to share the same love for the movie’s tone and characters. However, there’s still a lot to laugh at here. With the Matt Reeves-induced batfever sweeping the planet, it’s a great time to sit down and take a look at the most underrated Batman film, and its Mortal Kombat-loving counterpart, Batman Forever.
