It's been awhile since I interviewed someone who transitioned out of LE and into the Private Sector, so this week's episode is just that!
This week's episode is a chat with Logan Rivers about his LE career, his decision to transition out mid-career, the transition into Corporate Security, and his unwillingness to settle.
Logan started his police career with the Joplin, MO police department and within the first week, had his first critical incident...a massive F5 tornado that killed 158 people. Talk about a welcome to the profession. Logan didn't let that deter him from giving his all to his career and the citizens of Joplin, instead he used it as motivation to serve.
Like many LEOs though, the rising cost of benefits and lack of pay raises...plus starting a family, had him questioning if there was something more out there. He says he was lucky to find a mentor who helped him leave LE and get into Amazon Loss Prevention, then after quickly rising in that position, another connection opened the door to an opportunity with Ultra Beauty, as a Regional Loss Prevention Manager.
As you can see, the power of networking and having connections is HUGE to this transition! While Logan enjoyed the heck out of working for Ulta...the travel was getting pretty extensive, and doing that while raising three young girls...not sustainable.
He is now looking for his Next Shift, still within Corporate Security (in the KC area). If you or someone you know has an opportunity available, make sure you connect with Logan, here.
