Latina Superhero's, a quick chat with creator Kayden Phoenix

Kayden Phoenix is a Chicana Writer and Director from Boyle Heights, California. Upon entering the industry, the first thing she noticed was the industry dominated standard- complete with character generalizations. In response, she became a huge advocate for diversity both in front and behind the camera, giving a voice to stories untold. She plans on evening the playing field for the under-represented through her unique and diverse filmmaking.

Kayden's last film, PENANCE, showed at Cinequest, Outfest, won Best LGBTQ, Best Horror, and Grand Jury;  Gun Powder & Sky purchased Penance in 2020. Along with her film work, Kayden  is the Founder of non-profit Chicana Director’s Initiative, writer/creator of the Latina superhero graphic novels, A LA BRAVA, and recipient of Panavision’s New Filmmaker’s Program.
