In this episode of the Nacho Kids Podcast, Lori and David, co-founders of Nacho Kids, interview founder of “The Starving Stepmom” - LauraBeth Ferguson. She is also co-author of “Daily Bread for The Starving Stepmom” with Melanie Anthony. LauraBeth was a single mom for eight years. She was raised in a blended family and she thought her experience as a stepchild would be beneficial when she married a military man with full custody of his own kids. As many stepmoms do, LauraBeth jumped in full force in the “mom” role. And also as many bio parents do, her husband wanted her to be “mom” to his kids in all ways except for when it came to disciplining them. As the stepkids caregiver, while her husband was deployed, the stepdaughter accused LauraBeth of abuse. This accusation and things that resulted from it eventually led to the unthinkable… LauraBeth tried to commit suicide. Thankfully, she was unsuccessful and now shares her story in hopes of helping others.
