Since it is October, and since Dan is a huge fan of the "Dead" movies and the zombie sub-genre in general, and since there are no really good and thorough end to end biographies on this great man and great filmmaker, we've decided it was worth really digging in, doing some research, learning about and telling you guys about the great George A Romero! An independently minded, genre changing, incredibly influential, kind, generous and warm hearted person, who always got the best out of the people around him, never compromised with Hollywood executives on his creative vision, and gave us the modern zombie movie and really pushed the ideas of social commentary through horror and pushed the censors with the amounts of graphic gore he was willing and capable of achieving in his films, George A Romero was a visionary who, like many visionaries, was not fully appreciated until years after the critics initially scorned and condemned his work. Check out this episode for part three of our deep dive into his life where we conclude the series with a very special interview with Lee Karr, author of The Making of Day of the Dead and the upcoming The Making of Creepshow 2! Lee is a huge Romero fan, worked as a zombie in Land of the Dead, and had the opportunity on a few occasions to meet Mr Romero, once for an extended interview in Romero's Toronto home. This interview is full of all kinds of great insights into the man, and we're incredibly grateful to Lee for sitting down and talking with us! Below are our sources if you want to dig deeper yourself! Enjoy!
