Much of what we are focused on in meditation is centered around our own thoughts and feelings, and that self-care and focus is so necessary. Countless times we have all heard something to the effect of. If you want to improve society start with yourself. Blah, blah, blah...and yes..it does make sense. But I think it is also important to remember that we are not the only ones on earth, and the universe of energy and thoughts is traveled by all of us. So it is also important to try and understand what another person is thinking and feeling, and become aware of our empathy for others and seek to build that characteristic up in ourselves.
