Kern County is home to one of only two operating precious metal mines in California. Golden Queen Mining Company (GQMC), located near Mojave, employs 250 people. Last year, GQMC produced over 50,000 ounces of gold and nearly 500,000 ounces of silver!

Kern EDC and The Moneywise Guys are excited to announce the launch of the Moving the Needle: Economic Pillars of Kern County podcast. 

Kern County boasts the third-most diverse economy in the U.S.  The series will highlight innovative local businesses responsible for the incredible economic vitality in our region.
